» The museum library includes 20 thousand books: monographs about the most important photographers in Italy and abroad, catalogues of personal and collective exhibitions, theoretical and historical texts, Italian and international magazines.
The collection was formed by purchases, exchanges with museums and cultural institutions in Italy and abroad, acquisition of the library of Amilcare Ponchielli – photo editor of “Sette” magazine – and donations by Antonio Arcari, Mario Cattaneo, Paola Mattioli, Roberto Signorini, Grazia Neri – of the Grazia Neri photo agency – magazines donated by Anna Zanoli and Sergio Dahò. The museum library also houses a huge collection of books donated by Lanfranco Colombo to the Lombardy Region.
The library’s permanent paper collection also includes a significant number of magazines specialized in photography, from the 70s to the present: 128 magazines, in full years or single issues.
A media-library has also grown over the years, with videos by important artists and documentaries on contemporary photographers. Some of them are the Museum’s own productions.
The museum library is part of National Library Service (SBN). An informative catalogue is currently being prepared.
